Woman faces animal abuse charges after allegedly hitting dog

Mar 13, 2018 | Animal Cruelty Charges

When there is concern that an animal has been mistreated, many people tend to automatically feel upset for the animal. However, there may be circumstances surrounding a situation in which abuse is suspected that may shed a different light on the issue. If a person faces charges for animal cruelty, he or she may want to take advantage of the opportunity to tell his or her side of the story.

One woman in Texas indicated that a video of her allegedly striking a dog multiple times makes the incident seem worse than it was. Reportedly, a video was sent to the Houston Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals that showed the woman punching, slapping and stomping on a pit bull mix dog. The incident purportedly took place last November.

In the video, the woman allegedly stomps on the dog two times, slaps it multiple times and punches it. The dog apparently makes cries of pain and attempts to cower away from the woman. The incident resulted in the woman recently being taken into custody, and she is currently facing charges for animal cruelty and torture.

Incidents of animal abuse are taken seriously, and though the woman is suspected of such actions in this Texas case, she still has the ability to create and present a criminal defense, if she wishes to do so. In order to better understand her legal options, she may find it helpful to learn more about the exact allegations leveled against her and what defense strategies may prove useful. Becoming more knowledgeable about her case may help her feel more confident as it moves forward.
