Heroin distribution charges brought against Texas man

Aug 20, 2019 | Drug Offenses

In order to handle a criminal case effectively, it is wise for accused parties to learn as much about their criminal charges as possible. Even if a person is facing allegations for a broad violation, such as drug crimes, the seriousness of those allegations could hinge on many smaller details. For instance, a person facing criminal charges relating to heroin may have a more serious case to handle than for another substance.

One man in Texas is in a predicament involving such circumstances. Reports stated that authorities received a tip about drug sales at the man’s residence. Officers began an investigation that involved an undercover operation in which one officer allegedly purchased 17 grams of heroin from the man. The officer then later purchased an additional 10 grams of heroin and less than a gram of cocaine.

The incident resulted in the man recently being taken into custody. The man is currently facing charges for delivery of a controlled substance in a drug-free zone. The apartment complex where the man lives is considered a drug-free zone because there is a playground for children at the complex. The man was released from custody after posting a $55,000 bond.

This ordeal will undoubtedly weigh heavily on the man, and he may feel overwhelmed by the changes that his life could face as a result of the heroin charges. Fortunately, he can work to lessen the negative outcomes of his case by working on a strong criminal defense approach. If he does not know where to start, he may find it useful to obtain information and assistance from local Texas legal sources.
