2 charged with murder in death of Texas college student

Feb 27, 2019 | Violent Crimes

Facing criminal charges at a young age can result in long-term consequences for a person’s life. In some cases, a person’s age is taken into consideration as the court reviews the crime. However, that does not mean that a young person can go without exploring his or her criminal defense options, especially when murder is charged.

Two young men in Texas are currently facing such a difficult ordeal. According to reports, a 23-year-old man and a 19-year old man were taken into custody and charged with capital murder. The victim was reported as being a 20-year-old college student, and he was found by a family member at his apartment after having reportedly died as the result of a shooting.

Multiple law enforcement departments became involved in the case, and it was determined that the shooting took place in relation to a drug-related robbery. It was unclear what caused the two men to be considered suspects. The investigation into the incident was ongoing and would likely continue for weeks. At the time of the report, both individuals were still in custody awaiting bond hearings.

Capital murder charges in Texas can have immensely negative repercussions for these young men if they are convicted. Their cases will likely take some time to complete, and they may benefit from doing their part to address their allegations in meaningful ways. Though each man was charged in relation to the same event, their cases will differ, and deciding what defense routes each man feels comfortable with could help him throughout his case.
